3M River City Run Results: Nails Zooms to Easy Win

Hunter Nails cruised to an easy win in the 3M River City Run 10K with a time of 31:56.8 on March 26 in Decatur.

Nails, 23, of Phil Campbell, bested runner-up Thomas McNamara by more than four minutes. McNamara, however, was pulling a double — he won the 5K event handily — and finished in 35:02.9. Stuart Lamp of Decatur was third in 35:50.9.

Lora Jackson of Liberty Lake, Wash., was first female (10th overall) in 45:49.4.

The annual 3M River City Run benefits Hospice of the Valley, which has provided hospice care to the Decatur and North Alabama community since 1985. The run has been staged for more than 30 years. The first four miles of the 10K are run through quiet residential streets. The finish of the 10K and the entire 5K is run on the golf course perimeter road which runs along the beautiful Tennessee River. The 5K course is an out-and-back and the 10K is a loop. The Fun Run is a loop of the Point Mallard Spirit Field.

River City Run 5K

Thomas McNamara cruised to a decisive win in the 3M River City Run 5K.

McNamara, 25, of Hartselle, won with a time of 16:38.50, besting runner-up Pedro Bahena of Phil Campbell. Bahena, 45, crossed in 17:43.5 and claimed the Master’s title. Eric Debolt of Huntsville was third in 18:20.4.

Nadia Holmes, 10, of Madison was the first female (14th overall) in 24 minutes. Kristen Bergeson was second (1st Masters) in 24:23.

Fifty runners competed in the 10K event, and 105 in the 5K. The run was put on by the River City Runners.
