Almost 20,000 electric bicycles manufactured by Trek and Electra are recalled due to a rear wheel bolt that can break during use.
Consumers should immediately stop using the 2026 model Trek FX+1 and Electra Townie Go! e-bicycles. The rear wheel bolts can break when torqued, causing the wheel to separate from the bicycle, posing a fall hazard. Seven reports have been made about rear wheel bolts breaking on affected bicycles. No injuries have been reported.
Manufacturers have a free repair remedy for consumers who contact about their bikes.
These affected models were sold at Trek stores and authorized retailers nationwide and online from April 2025 through October 2025 for about $2,100. The bikes were manufactured by Hyena, Inc., of Taiwan.
