Garmin has introduced its new Edge Explore 3 and Edge Explore 3 Plus, easy-to-use GPS cycling computers that provide essential ride data, maps, alerts and more on a vivid, responsive touchscreen display.
Both models offer user-friendly navigation features, helping cyclists choose the best route and find points of interest. Safety features like incident detection and LiveTrack location sharing offer more peace of mind. For cyclists looking to improve fitness, Garmin Cycling coach plans deliver personalized and adaptive workouts. With a built-in speaker and microphone on Edge Explore 3 Plus, cyclists can exchange voice messages1, hear navigation prompts and more2 while keeping their hands on the bars.
“Whether setting out on a weekend ride, commuting across town or starting a fitness journey, cyclists of any skill level can depend on Edge Explore 3 to help guide every ride and support their goals,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing. “With intuitive routing, personalized training plans, a suite of connected features and superior battery life, these durable bike computers bring ride essentials together into one easy-to-use device.”
Navigate With Ease
To help keep cyclists on course, Edge Explore 3 and Edge Explore 3 Plus offer simple, yet detailed bike-specific maps, turn-by-turn directions and more:
- Route options: See different route options and make more informed decisions about which to take based on ride time, total elevation, bike type and more.
- Up Ahead: Select points of interest that matter most – like coffee shops, restrooms or gas stations – and see updates for the nearest ones along a route.
- Road hazards alerts: Get alerted to hazards1 reported by fellow Garmin cyclists, like potholes, road closures and even aggressive animals, and contribute real-time edits.
- Free Flow Routing: To keep their rhythm while riding, cyclists can find routes with fewer stops, intersections or slowdowns.
- Pin drop navigation: Cyclists can now send a pin or point of interest from Google Maps™ and Apple Maps® on their compatible smartphone to their Edge and get a bike-specific route.
Built-In Speaker, Mic
Cyclists can use voice control to operate Edge Explore 3 Plus hands-free. Cyclists can request a new route, ask for their in-ride fitness stats, report a road hazard, change screens and more.
Cyclists can also use the microphone to send voice messages through the on-device Garmin Messenger app1. With the integrated speaker, Edge Explore 3 Plus can play voice messages from other Garmin Messenger app users, read out in-ride stats and provide workout and navigation prompts. The speaker also acts as a digital bike bell, alerting pedestrians of approaching cyclists.
