MADISON, Ala. — Andrew Hodges cruised to an easy win in the 5th annual K of C Tootsie Roll 5K Saturday morning.
Hodges, 39, of Huntsville, crossed the line in 18:14, an average of 5:52 per mile. Ian Howley, 37, of Madison, was second in 18:54 and Ethan Brewer, 15, of Madison, was third in 19:09.
Katie Maehlmann, 45, of Madison, was the female winner in 21:48. She was sixth overall. Jennifer Groves, 42, of Madison was second (23rd) in 23:52, and Nina Cook, 39, of Madison, was third (26th) in 24:05.

Runners were greeted to warm, humid conditions Saturday morning. The event had 313 finishers. The course is certified with USA Track & Field.
The race is put on by the Knights of Columbus Council 10232 and Council 17519 of Madison. One hundred percent of the proceeds goes to Madison City Schools to benefit students with special learning needs. This is part of a nationwide campaign put on by the Knights of Columbus.
