Ditto Landing 10K Results: Whitehead Cruises to Win

Josh Whitehead of Huntsville finished in 32:28 to win the Ditto Landing 10K by almost four minutes Sunday morning.

Whitehead had a 5:14 pace on the flat course, which follows the Aldridge Creek Greenway through south Huntsville and returns to Ditto Landing along the Tennessee River. More than 530 runners faced sunny but windy conditions after a cold snap with rain blew in overnight.

Whitehead’s time is the event’s fastest in at least six years. It was the first time he competed in the event. He won the Huntsville Half Marathon two weeks ago, along with the Pill Hill 10K in May and several other races this year.

Daniel Sillivant of Huntsville was second in 36:25, and Paul Richardson of Huntsville was third in 37:02.

Angel Mobley (Sillivant) of Huntsville was the women’s champion and 7th overall, finishing in 38:48. Julia Donovan was second (19th) in 42:46, and Joanna Gregg was third (41st) in 48:22.

The field had 314 women and 215 men registered. The Ditto Landing 10K is put on by the Huntsville Track Club and is an HTC Grand Prix event. It began more than 25 years ago as the HTC Scholarship Fun Run, to raise money for the club’s Harold and Louise Tinsley Scholarship.

Sponsors were The Fresh Market, Panera Bread and Marco’s Pizza.
