Frozen Falls Results: Jordan Smashes 50-Mile Time

Zack Jordan led the podium finishers Saturday at the Frozen Falls trail races in Tennessee with a 12-minute win in the 50-mile event.

Runners hit the trails at Fall Creek Falls State Park, one of Tennessee’s most popular parks, for the 50-mile, 50K, half-marathon and 10K events. This is the second year Running Lane has put on these events and they’re growing each year. Next up is the challenging Eagle Ridge 50K, half and 5K at Guntersville State Park on Feb. 11.

Jordan, 29, crossed the finish line Saturday in 7:26:32, with Anthony Groft, 35, second in 7:38:49.

Liane Jennings, 49, was the women’s champ and 8th overall. She finished in 10:47:53.

Frozen Falls 50K

Sam Reed, 40, easily claimed the 50K title in 4:43.

Michael Scroggins, 58, was second in 5:24, and Sawyer Runyan, 15, was third in 5:24.

Natalie Boucher, 30, won the women’s title in 6:39 and was 21st overall. Jennifer Deninger, 50, was second (22nd) in 6:42. Sarah Bockelmann, 39, was third (23rd) in 5:50. The three were among 13 women out of 66 runners in the 50K event.

Frozen Falls Half

Joshua Rogers, 42, claimed the half-marathon title in 1:46:57. He was just a few minutes quicker than runner-up Sammy Passell, 26, who finished in 1:49:43.

Courtney Schwartz, 38, was the first female (9th overall) in 2:08:15. Heather Mahan, 48, was second (16th) in 2:35:57.

Frozen Falls 10K

Eighteen-year-old John Schepens won the 10K by mere steps, finishing in 50:03:52 in a photo-finish.

Jonathan Chesebro, 15, was right there with Schepens but was clocked at 50:06:85. Derek Murphy, 47, was third in 54:32.

Amy Walworth, 41, was the female champ in 59:50 She was fourth overall.

Kara Mosesso, 39, was second (8th) in 1:06. Amanda Freels, 31, was third (10th) in 1:09.

The 10K had 86 finishers.
