DECATUR, Ala. — Lance Moore and Malia Gill took top honors Saturday in the 22nd Wet Dog Triathlon at Point Mallard Park.
Gill, 26, of Madison, finished in 53:22 and was sixth overall. Moore, 27, of Hamilton, crossed the finish line first in 49:38.
The field of 150 competitors hailed from eight states, mostly in the Southest but including Colorado, North Dakota and Texas. Wet Dog is comprised of a 400-meter open water swim, 15k bike ride and 5k run along the Tennessee River. It is considered one of the best for first-time triathletes thanks to the flat bike and running courses.
Wet Dog is a fundraiser for Mosaic Mentoring of North Alabama, a non-profit child and family mentoring organization.
Aaron Ford, 40, of Satillo, Miss., was second overall and in the men’s division in 50:12. Clay Curtis, 49, of Tupelo, Miss., was third in 51:42.
Emma Hardman, 26, of Huntsville, was second in the women’s division (8th overall) in 54:00. Charlene Robinson, 33, of Madison, was third (24th) in 1:00:39.
