Redstone Arsenal continued its dominance of the government agency and all-comers divisions with wins Sunday morning in the 40th Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C.
The teams won dual titles for the 28th time. Redstone’s runners returned to the event in 2023 for the first time since 2019, missing the years due to the pandemic. Redstone claimed 13 straight championships in the government agency division and 11 in a row in the all-comers division from 2007-19. Now, it has resumed its streak with another pair of titles.
“The teams this year look to be the strongest we have ever had,” coach Harry Hobbs told the Redstone Rocket.
About the Army Ten-Miler
More than 459,685 runners have run in the Army Ten-Miler since it began in 1985. It attracts more than 35,000 runners and 900 teams from around the world. It includes military, civilians, wheelchair athletes and wounded warrior athletes, with more than 900 soldiers and volunteers supporting the event. Race proceeds benefit Army Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs.
The course takes participants along some of the D.C. icons, starting at The Pentagon. Other sites include Arlington National Cemetery, Theodore Roosevelt Island, The Watergate (yes, that one), Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, The Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, along The National Mall and Reflecting Pool, Smithsonian, Tidal Basin, Jefferson Memorial, a short jaunt on Army Navy Drive and then back to the finish at The Pentagon.
Redstone’s Teams
Redstone Arsenal’s team includes active and retired soldiers, Army civilians, NASA workers and other runners. The teams include former team members and new ones, such as Hunter Nails and Joey Schlich. Several are familiar names for area runners. All came together in weeks of training and Sunday to once again bring home the double eagles.
