Register: 2022 HAMR Skills Clinics for Mountain Biking

PMBIA Level 1 Instructor Erin McMahon and Donovan Johnson of Southeast Shreds are once again teaming up to present the HAMR skills clinics at Monte Sano State Park.

More information and registration on the HAMR skills clinics can be found at: https://www.hamrhsv.com/skills-clinics

There is a minimum age of 13 to participate in these clinics. They are all-day events. HAMR recommends being prepared with your own hydration — either a water bottle mounted on a bottle cage or a backpack hydration pack — and portable snacks for the day. Lunch will be provided.

The beginner clinic will be April 30 starting at 9 a.m., near the HAMR Ride Center/Bikers Parking Lot at Monte Sano State Park. Attendees should be there about 30 minutes early to get checked in. Lunch will be about noon, with the sessions resuming at 1 p.m. until approximately 3 p.m. Specific skills covered will include basic body position and body/bike separation, shifting/gear selection, braking, introduction to cornering, and more. Beginner clinic participants should be in flat pedals (not clipped in).

The intermediate clinic will be May 1 starting at 9 a.m. Gather near the HAMR Ride Center/Bikers Parking Lot at Monte Sano State Park. Be about 30 minutes early to get checked in. Lunch will be provided about noon, and with sessions resuming at 1 p.m. until approximately 3-4 p.m.

Specific skills covered in the intermediate clinic will include wheel lifts, roll-downs, cornering, switchbacks, and more. Riders should be comfortable riding all top trails at Monte Sano, and be ready to start tackling specifics such as the switchbacks on Sinks trail. Intermediate riders should ride in either flat pedals or clipless, whichever they most typically prefer to ride in.

All participants must wear a helmet in both HAMR skills clinics.

All participants between the ages of 13-19 must provide a hardcopy of the PDF waiver: Click here.

Also, entrance to Monte Sano State Park is $5 at the entrance gate or with an annual park pass.
