With chilly weather arriving, it’s time to start thinking about staying warm on rides, runs and when you’re enjoying an evening out around town. Gorewear has several new jackets and tops that handle fun outings, hearty rides and crisp runs.
The new Hybrid Windstopper Puffer won’t be anything you’ll wear on the move thanks to its 170 grams of warm PrimaLoft Gold insulation and Cross Core design. The latter helps keep key areas of your body warmer, and the PrimaLoft is a well-known insulation used in clothing and boots. It’s incredibly lightweight yet a magnificent insulator; stuff a jacket into its tote bag or a backpack and you don’t know it’s there until you need it.
I have several “puffy” style jackets for a variety of uses, from chillin’ out or ball games to hunting, fishing and light hikes. Some are inexpensive and others cost a bit more. The former, I treat a little more harshly and don’t worry about them, similar to fleece tops and pullovers. Point being, the puffy jacket is quite nice to have and if possible, having more than one for the truck, stash bag and “Eh, dirty work but I need to stay warm” situations is great.
Gorewear’s new Windstopper Puffer has a 100 percent windproof exterior thanks to Gore-Tex technology. This finish repels moisture yet keeps you warm even in light rain and mist. Other features include:
- Relaxed fit for easy layering
- Durable water repellent finish sheds rain and snow
- Zippered interior chest pocket and additional interior storage
- Handwarmer pockets
- Drawcord hood and hem for a custom fit
- Weight: 23.9 oz.
Gorewear Shirt Jacket
Sometimes it’s just chilly enough for a crossover tossover because a shirt isn’t enough to keep you warm, but a bigger jacket will be too much. That’s where the Insulated Shirt Jacket hits perfectly.
Thin and comfortable, this “shacket” has a nice layer of PrimaLoft Evolve insulation to keep you warm. It’s sort of like a Goldilocks scenario: not too hot and not too chill. It’s just right.
It has a relaxed fit, relaxed style and a DWR coating for lightweight weather protection. If you need it over a shirt, it’s not bulky and won’t turn you into a burrito. If maybe you need a little more, add a puffy coat and then shed it later as necessary. Also super for traveling, like on an airplane when you want to knock off that cabin chill on an evening or overnight flight.
It weighs just 13.2 ounces, comes in five sizes and two colors, and has zippered exterior pockets and an internal pocket.
