Team Redstone continued its streak of bringing home a prized eagle trophy for the Government Agencies Division at the 41st annual Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C.
The squad captured the title again Sunday morning in the semi-shuttered city with a combined time of 4:11:04. Redstone claimed 13 straight championships in the government agency division and 11 in a row in the all-comers division from 2007-19. After taking a break for the pandemic, it returned in 2023 and resumed its winning ways in both.
According to race standings, Redstone All-Comers team was second with a 4:01:55. The Vessey MN Team snapped its long streak with a time of 3:55:12. The government shutdown and weather created late travel issues for some team members who had to drop.
Team Redstone now has 29 eagle trophies in the garrison showcase on Redstone Arsenal. The team is comprised of area runners including soldiers, contractors, federal employees and others. The race field woke up Sunday to rain and chilly temperatures. The rain stopped before the howitzers fired for the start. Constant wind and wet roads presented some issues, though.
Hunter Nails of Rainbow City led the way for the Redstone Government Agency division with a nifty 53:36:42. He was 27th overall. Josh Whitehead of Madison popped in at 42nd with a 55:09:42, and Sean Allan of Huntsville crossed in 1:10:47.
Nathaniel Pierce of Huntsville paced the Redstone All-Comers division with a fine 57:58. Beck Mitchell of Madison was right behind at 58:09. Will Rodgers of Huntsville followed up with a 1:01:13.
