Arc’teryx Launches New Independent Footwear Collection

Arc’teryx Equipment’s new 2024 spring and summer footwear line is the brand’s first designed by an in-house team and features three technical shoes for run and climb: The Vertex Alpine, Sylan and Kragg.

This line was independently created by an in-house footwear design team based out of the Arc’teryx Portland Creation Centre.

“Over the last two years, we have tightened our focus on the mountain athlete, and the terrain they move on and through, looking at why we exist,” said Ovidio Garcia, Arc’teryx VP, Footwear. “We’ve put resources against it, with a dedicated team of footwear experts, and a footwear design studio in Portland. We start with the mountain athlete, the purpose behind our product and what we’re creating.

“We listen, learn and work with our athletes and peers to build through our unique design process to solve real problems with those insights in mind. Our goal is to become a pinnacle footwear brand, to be known for our footwear the same way we are for our hardshells. Our spring 2024 launch is a milestone in this journey.”

With a focus on the mountain athlete, the new designs deliver a range of products that defy traditional footwear categories in vertical mountain terrain. All three models are available in both men’s and women’s styles, in addition to a GORE-TEX version available in the Vertex Alpine and Sylan.

  • The Vertex Alpine is an approach shoe to be used as a tool for single pushes to the crux and back. It provides an unapparelled grip that enables on-trail traction and precise climbing performance for the most efficient mountain access.
  • The Sylan is a performance mountain-running shoe, designed with speed in mind. A rocker silhouette and technical outsole is built for propulsion across rugged terrain with steep elevation changes, providing comfort and confidence along the way.
  • The Kragg is designed for quick approaches, belay wear, and comfort after the climb. A breathable and flexible upper, combined with a durable outsole, provides a comfortable fit on-and-off the trail. Designed with recovery in mind, a collapsible heel counter allows for easy slip-on-and-off and features a cushy foam insole made with bio-based content.

Arc’teryx is committed to the future of footwear as a climbing brand, manufacturing best-in-class products that endure over time, epitomize sustainable advancements, and empower achievement and inspiration. The brand will continue to invest in its technical footwear offerings that unlock athlete performance in the mountains, for every type of mission and terrain.

The Vertex Alpine, Sylan and Kragg are available globally online and in Arc’teryx stores. For more information on Arc’teryx footwear, visit arcteryx.com/shop/footwear.
