CamelBak Announces New, Most Sustainably Made Pack Yet

The new Adventure Travel Pack collection from CamelBak utilizes recycled materials throughout, with a travel-specific design made for efficiently exploring new destinations.

This collection from CamelBak is the most environmentally-friendly packs it has ever created. The Adventure Travel Pack (A.T.P.) collection is made almost entirely of recycled materials. It comes loaded with technical details and travel-ready features, built for adventures near and far.

The Adventure Travel Pack collection consists of two pack models explicitly designed for adventure travel. Available in 20-liter (MSRP $160) and 26-liter (MSRP $180) sizes, both come in black and undyed color options. The A.T.P. collection blends form and function into a sustainably built travel pack. The undyed packs have earned a Platinum level sustainability badge—a ranking system implemented by CamelBak—incorporating its highest sustainable technology to date. A full-circle approach to the design and development of the A.T.P. packs was taken into consideration to reduce impact throughout.

“We’re thrilled to bring the most sustainable packs we’ve ever created to market in the A.T.P. collection,” says Tony Vontz, director of soft goods and sport at CamelBak. “With these adventure-ready bags, we really wanted to make a splash with a fresh approach to design and the incorporation of performance materials that once served another life before becoming a new product again. Every detail of the A.T.P. was considered and designed with travel in mind to make it a trusted companion that can instill wanderlust in anyone.”

To create a long-lasting travel essential, CamelBak built the A.T.P. with durable 100-percent recycled 210D CORDURA re/cor™ N66. This was sourced from post-industrial fiber materials. CamelBak also utilized aluminum hardware throughout to provide added reliability. To further reduce environmental impact, the A.T.P. is limited to two colors—black and undyed—which lessens water consumption during production. Further complementing the bags sustainable construction, details all the way to the packaging level were accounted for by utilizing a 100-percent recycled poly bag for protection during transport, and 100-percent recycled paper hang tags with QR code information to reduce materials, affixed with biodegradable cotton.

What truly makes the A.T.P. a premium travel pack are the technical details informed by real-world travel experiences. Details such as a removable padded laptop sleeve, a rolling luggage handle pass-through, a side entry zipper pocket for organizing small essentials, an expandable water bottle pocket and deployable compression straps, all add up to streamlining travel via plane, train and beyond. Unlike nearly all of CamelBak’s packs, the ATP does not come supplied with a hydration reservoir, though it is still reservoir-compatible with a dedicated external sleeve.

“Our latest innovation in the Adventure Travel Pack collection is a big step forward for CamelBak’s ongoing mission to produce more environmentally-conscious products that help our users get out and explore the great outdoors,” says Marissa Strano, materials innovation and sustainability manager at CamelBak. “But, we know our environmental efforts can’t just address product improvement. In an ongoing effort to continue improving upon our sustainability efforts, we’ve also doubled down on meaningful partnerships working alongside influential people like Nicole McLaughlin and organizations like POW, with the hopes of causing a ripple effect of positive change.”
