Cheezy 5K Results: Desanti Wins at the Wire

DECATUR — Gene Desanti clipped Vincente Cameron at the finish line Saturday morning to win the inaugural Cheezy 5K at Calhoun College.

Desanti, 39, finished in 22:26 for the win. Cameron, 18, crossed just behind in 22:49.

Jenia Norton, 51, was third in 25:43 and took top women’s honors. Precious Harris was second (4th overall) in 26:40. Kelly Lambert, 50, was third (7th) in 28:13.

The flat, fast course was routed through Calhoun College. Sponsors included Lion’s Den Gym, B.B. Perrin’s Sports Grille, Gibson’s BBQ, The Brick and others. Proceeds will help the Calhoun Fine Arts students traveling to participate in the International Collegiate Theatre Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, in August.
