Tyson Jouglet won the Dizzy Fifties 50K Saturday morning at Monte Sano State Park by more than two minutes.
Jouglet, 35, of Huntsville, crossed the line first with a time of 4:27:11. He was minutes ahead of runner-up James Ebert, also 35, of Huntsville, with a time of 4:29:08. Kyle Chiriboga, 22, also of Huntsville, finished third at 4:57:09.
The top-finishing female was Huntsville’s Brittany Berger, 31, (11th overall), while Amelia Harrison, 23, of New Market, was second (19th overall) in 6:39:41. In third place was Huntsville’s Perla Nunez, 41, at 6:46:15.
Sponsors were Progress Bank and Old Town Beer Exchange. The event is the first of four that comprise the Huntsville Slam. Along with Dizzy Fifties, those vying for the Slam title must finish the Rocket City Marathon, Recover From the Holidays 50K and Mountain Mist 50K. The best aggregate time earns Slam honors for the top male and female competitor.
