In 2014 I was an absolute beginner at running. I didn’t like running. But I had a treadmill I used regularly to walk on while I streamed television shows. As I became more fit and my stamina increased, so did the speed of the belt. One day I realized if I went any faster, my pace would become a jog. A few months later, on my 42nd birthday, I ran my first 5K. Others would follow.
Fast forward to 2021. My wife and I were running on treadmills at my local National Chain Pay-by-the-Month Gym when it occurred to me that we could do the same thing at home and not pay a monthly fee and not have to wear a COVID-19 mask.
I began the research on the internet and compared many brands, models and price points by reading every review I could find. I wanted a treadmill that was solid, was built to last, would handle daily use by both me and my wife and would inspire you to actually use it.
I found the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 (MSRP $1,899).
It arrived by 18-wheeler and came in a large coffin-like box. NordicTrack claims threshold delivery, but I had to enlist help to get it up my sidewalk and into my house. Once the crate was opened, I found the treadmill solidly packed, and it had well-written instructions on how to unpack the crate as well as how to assemble the treadmill. The assembly was easy and took a couple of hours, but the completed treadmill was obviously well-built and would disassemble into three major sections for any future moves or relocations. After moving a large treadmill completely assembled in 2014, that is a very welcome feature.
At first glance, I liked what I saw. It had a low step-up height, a 22-inch by 60-inch tread belt, an AutoBreeze fan and a tray and cupholders to stow things during your workout.
But What About Technology?
The coolest feature to me was the 14-inch tilting HD touchscreen and premium audio speakers. The 1750 features HD graphics with processor cooling, Dual 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth capability and runs on the Android 9 OS.
iFit
My Commercial 1750 came with a free 1-year family iFit subscription. iFIT, NordickTrack’s interactive personal training app, incorporates AutoAdjust technology, which enables the 1750 treadmill to adjust speed, incline and decline automatically using Quiet Drive incline technology throughout trainer-led workouts in live studio sessions or worldwide workouts. With iFit you can even make fitness goals and track your stats to keep yourself motivated and avoid monotonous workouts.
Google Maps Workout Technology
Have a race coming up and want to simulate the course? Just create the route in Google Maps on the touchscreen and train in the comfort of your home. You control the speed, the treadmill controls incline and decline and the screen shows the path you’ll take come race day.

Customer Service
After a few uses, I noticed my treadmill had a slight rhythmic squeak at jogging speed. It wasn’t really that big of a deal to me, but if I pay that kind of money for something, I want it just right. I called the customer service phone number and the representative diagnosed the problem as a lack of belt lubricant from the factory. They expedited a free tube of lubricant to me and sent me a YouTube link on how to apply it between the belt and rollers. It took me two minutes to apply the lubricant. The squeak was gone.
Bottom Line
The NordicTrack Commercial 1750 has not disappointed me at all. However, I have disappointed it regularly. But it still does a great job of inspiring me, and I highly recommend this treadmill.
