Halloween 5K 2023 Guide for the Tennessee Valley

If you’re looking for a fun Halloween 5K this year in the Tennessee Valley, have no fear. You’ve come to the right place!

We’ve compiled Halloween 5K events in the river valley from Knoxville to Paducah. A few others may be listed, as well. Take a look, find an event, make sure of the date and have fun. Be sure to let us know if we need to add other events.

Monster Mash 5K Bash

OCT. 8, in Paducah — More than 150 people participated last year, and this year’s addition of a 1-mile event should add more fun. Chip-timed on downtown streets. Paducah is flat as a delicious cookie from Kirchhoff’s Bakery & Deli, so this could be a great chance for a PR. Costume contests, too. INFO: Click here

Smoky Mountain Very Scary 5K

OCT. 13, in Townsend, Tenn. — This fun Friday 5K starts at 8 p.m. — an evening race! — and includes a 1-mile fun event with cool swag. After the races, stick around to watch the original Friday the 13th movie and hang out. How cool is that? INFO: Click here

Great Pumpkin Run 5K

OCT. 21, in Rainsville — The Great Pumpkin Run 5K benefits the DeKalb County Children’s Advocacy Center. All proceeds from the 5K will go to the DeKalb Country Children’s Advocacy Center to help abused children in DeKalb County. Prize money for race winners and costume winners. Fun run for ages 9-under on the nearby wellness trail. INFO: Click here

Spooktacular 5K / Monster Mile

OCT. 28, in Huntsville — This is one of the year’s biggest 5K events in the city, with all kinds of costumes and lots of fun. Chip-timed event on downtown streets familiar to area runners. Good event for a PR, should you want to attempt that, or just to come have fun. Eighteen categories for “Best Costume” along with a Best of Show. INFO: Click here

Spookasaurus Half, 10K, 5K

OCT. 28, in Chattanooga — The flat course runs on a paved path meandering by Chickamauga Dam, behind the Chattanooga State campus and alongside the Tennessee River. You will pass the start/finish/aid station area multiple times throughout the race. This means you’re welcome to leave a drop bag, helpful if you’re in the half and need something. Costumes encouraged for the events, especially the 5K and 10K. INFO: Click here

Jack-o-Lantern Jamboree

OCT. 28, in Jasper, Tenn. — The 8th annual Joshua K Jennings Jack-o-Lantern Jamboree 5K will take runners and walkers through downtown Jasper. Costumes encouraged. INFO: Click here

Pumpkin Run 5K

NOV. 4, in Maryville, Tenn. — 7th annual Pumpkin Run 5K and 2-mile walk, with reduced pricing for runners age 15-17. Starts at 10 a.m. so it’ll be a little warmer. The course begins at Crawford House and meanders through the Maryville College Woods, partially on the college cross country course and then ends at the Crawford House/ Mountain Challenge.
