Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday seasons always are fun for the variety of 5K runs, many of which are great fundraisers for wonderful organizations.
Among those in the TVO area are the Crisis Services of North Alabama Turkey Trot and Rudolph Run 5K on Dec. 16 to benefit Blount Hospitality House. Instead of an event where proceed go into the organizers’ pocket, choosing a 5K or 10K that legitimately benefits a helpful organization adds more enjoyment to the run.
You can add a little more fun with holiday themed shoes and gear. Brooks Running jumps into the holiday spirit each year with several limited edition runs of shoes, socks, hats and apparel. For December’s jingle rudolph holiday runs, cool shoes in the Brooks Run Merry line include the Levitate 6 for women and men. Brooks also has a cool beanie, socks and shirts for men and women.
Brooks also offers the Trot Happy line for Thanksgiving (see photos below!), along with special runs for St. Patrick’s Day and July 4. The former include shamrock green designs while the latter are red, white and blue with stars and other accents. The shoes in all the lines are comfortable, daily trainers that hold up well and are fun to wear.
Check out the Brooks site, or visit Fleet Feet, First Place Athletics or other local running store, to see the holiday themed shoes and other specials.
