Several deadlines are near for the 19th annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run 5K and Survivor’s Walk scheduled for Oct. 15 in Huntsville.
According to the event site: Proceeds from the 2022 Liz Hurley Ribbon Run will provide for the top-priority needs of Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children’s Breast Center, including necessary Dense Breast Software upgrades to better pinpoint which patients need additional levels of cancer screening for accurate diagnosis. With donor support, HHF will also launch the brand-new Breast Cancer Patient Experience Project, focused on improving each patient’s comfort and surroundings while in the Breast Center. The goal of these enhancements is to reduce the anxiety and fear that sometimes accompany these procedures.
Looming deadlines include:
— Oct. 4 is the last day to join a team
— Oct. 8 is when the registration price increases to $45
— Oct. 11 is the last day to register
The 5K and Survivors’ Walk is in downtown Huntsville, attracting thousands of runners, walkers and supporters. The Survivors’ Walk begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K begins at 8:30 a.m.
The 2021 event had more than 2,500 runners and raised $290,000 in net proceeds. The money was used to purchase two mammography machine software upgrades for the Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children Breast Center.
