MADISON — Nathaniel Pierce and Claire Deaton captured top honors in the Love to Run 5k on Bradford Creek Greenway Saturday morning.
The race is new on the local calendar and quickly filled up, with 351 official finishers.
Pierce, 39, of Huntsville, finished in 17:17 and held off an energetic John Litavec, 16, who crossed in 17:53. Shaun Tompkins was third in 18:02. Both are from Madison.
Deaton, 22, of Madison, finished 10th and won the women’s title in 21:01. Rebecca Mulholland, 28, of Huntsville, was second (19th) in 22:53 and Laura Benson, 27, of Madison, third (22nd) in 23:16.
Cheryl Davies, 52, of Madison, won the Women’s Masters title in 24:03. She was 27th overall. Ryan Donovan, 41, of Huntsville, was fourth overall and won the Men’s Masters division, in 18:54.
Frank Key, 95, of Madison, was the oldest finisher, in 56:42. Cash Cottingham, 6, of Gurley was the youngest. He finished in 32:27.
