HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Josh Whitehead of Madison, Ala., didn’t let a little, ok a lot, of wind and cold weather slow him down Saturday, as the 44-year-old easily took the Huntsville Track Club’s Huntsville Half Marathon with a 5:21 pace.
Whitehead’s total time was 1:10:07, more than 13 minutes faster than the next finishers at 1:23:34 — Christian Schrandt, also of Madison, and Huntsville’s James Miller.
Huntsville females claimed the top three spots. Megan Lehr finished first (11th overall) at 1:34:52, followed by Melissa Miller (12th at 1:35:14) and Julia Donovan (13th at 1:36:14).
The race description on runsignup.com included a caution about fickle weather. “Weather conditions vary in early November, so be prepared for conditions that could be warm and sunny, strong cold winds, or rain.” But the weather didn’t keep the 230 entrants and race fans and families from enjoying their Saturday morning.
