Volunteers are needed for multiple tasks for the 2023 Para-Cycling Road World Cup, scheduled for Memorial Day weekend in Huntsville.
This is the first Para-Cycling Road World Cup to be held in the United States. Huntsville will play host to more than 300 athletes, UCI staff, team staff and families along with visiting fans the weekend of May 26-29. All competitive events will be held in Cummings Research Park. It will be a busy weekend in the city, with the annual Cotton Row Run that attracts thousands also scheduled for Memorial Day.
Volunteers will be needed for course marshalls, monitors, volunteer and staff check-in, hospitality and other tasks. Those interested in volunteering are asked to fill out this short form. Event personnel will be in contact. The form does not list specific tasks. Event staff will contact prospective volunteers about different tasks and training.
Huntsville played host to Union Cycliste Internationale events in 2021 and 2022. The World Cup is expected to bring competitors from more than 40 countries to the Rocket City. UCI is the governing and sanctioning body for sport cycling events.
World Cup athletes will compete on different types of cycles including two-wheeled, handcycles, two-person tandem teams and tricycles. Events will include time trials, races and relays. Volunteers will be needed for all three days of competition and trials, along with pre-event activities and other on-site needs.
