Sour Peach is the newest flavor in the Original Energy Gel lineup from GU Energy, a leader in sports nutrition, becoming the 17th flavor in the series.
Sour Peach is the first sour gel in the collection, presenting athletes with an exciting, out-of-the-box flavor profile. It, like all GU gels, continues to deliver a guaranteed source of energy to support performance at any level.
“When developing our first sour gel, we really focused on hitting the perfect sourness level for an athlete,” says Brandon Kirchmeyer, GU’s product development manager. “The sour peach profile gives you that fun, mouth-watering zing to break up flavor fatigue. But we kept it much milder than a traditional sour candy. It’s just sour enough to be refreshing without being too harsh to use during exercise.”
Peachy Debut
For its first on-course debut, Sour Peach will fuel runners at the upcoming Oakland Marathon on March 20-22. This event draws more than 10,000 runners. It is one of the most diverse, inclusive running events in the world. For 16 years, GU Energy has supported runners at the Oakland Marathon with gels and chews at aid stations. For 2026, runners can refuel with Sour Peach at an on-course station dubbed “Sour Power.”

Carbs and More
GU gels are packed with 100 calories per packet for quick energy during runs, rides or other activities.
Each gel also has 21-23 grams of carbohydrates to sustain effort, 60-125mg of sodium to support hydration, and 450mg of amino acids for additional muscle performance.
