Alix Freeman captured the Racing Rivals Triathlon title by a hair during stiff competition Sept. 3 at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro.
Freeman, 29, of Telico Pines, Tenn., clipped Jack Mcafee, 38, of Chattanooga, by fractions of a second to get the win. Final results showed both with a time of 59:34. That’s quite a finish for a swim, bike and run. But the splits for Mcafee and Freeman show the difference, though. Even the transition times were close as the two battled.
Matt Fletcher, 24, of Huntsville, was third in 1:02:58. Laura Horn, 39, of Athens, was the first female across the line (16th overall) in 1:18:36. Zoe Waltz, 18, of Huntsville, was second (22nd) in 1:22:11, and Jenna Barrineau, 44, of Prattville, Ala., was third (25th) in 1:23:46.
