DaBaileys, the team of Caylin and Stephen Bailey, won the Rocket City Marathon Relay on Sunday by a slim margin at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.
This was the second relay in the RCM Weekend slate of events. Thirty-six teams of two to five runners competed.
The Baileys finished in 3:26:01 to nab the gold.
F3 Obstacle Course Guys — Blake Schultz, Chris Sullivan and Ben Culwell — were second in 3:26:22.
Always Jump, the team of Zachary Herhold and Jackson Jewett, were third in 3:27:13.
The team member running the first leg could also run the complete marathon if he/she registered separately for the marathon. In this case, the first runner would wear two bibs, one for the relay and one for him/herself. A race belt/bib is provided and serves as the team’s baton. It must be handed to the next runner in the relay exchange zone. The four zones are at 4.2 miles at Maple Hill Cemetery, 9.1 miles at Bud Cramer Park, 15.5 miles at UAH and 20.9 miles at the exit of Huntsville Botanical Gardens.
A pre-finish reunion area was established so all team members could cross the finish line together.
