The fastest field east of the Rockies will scorch the Milton Frank Stadium track this week in the fourth annual Running Lane Track Championships for high school athletes.
The boy’s 1-mile field includes several runners pushing the 4-minute mark, while Alyssa Sauro of West Virginia returns to pursue a sub-10 in the 3200m. All events begin Friday at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville with time trials leading to the late-night finals on Saturday.
Among the boys 1-mile speedsters returning:
— Tommy Latham from Georgia soloed a 4:01 in the Georgia State Meet recently, winning by 12 seconds.
— Adam Burleson of Texas finished second in 2023 and returns with a personal best time of 4:02.
— Ethan Edgeworth of Alabama, a committment to the University of Tennessee, clocked the top time in the U.S. in the 1,600 in January and ran a 4:03 at the state high school track championships.
— David Flaig of Colorado boasts an altitude-adjusted 4:03
— Corbin Coombs of New Mexico posted a 4:05 earlier this season.

— 3200M Girls: (46) 11:20 or faster
— 1600M Boys: (75!!) 4:20 or faster
— 1600M Girls: (51) 5:12 or faster
— 800M Boys: (63) 2:00 or faster
— 800M Girls: (29) 2:20 or faster
