Running of the Bulls 5K Results: O’Neill, Maehlmann Win

Grattan O’Neill and Katie Maehlmann won the Running of the Bulls 5K titles Saturday at Aldridge Creek Greenway in Hampton Cove.

O’Neill, 15, of Huntsville, finished in a speedy time of 17:49, a clip of 5:44 per mile. Paul Vest, 38, of Huntsville, was second in 18:23 and Joshua Swain, 38, of Toney, was third in 19:09.

Maehlmann, 45, of Madison, was seventh overall and crossed in 20:32, a time of 6:37 per mile. Clarissa Hell, 27, of Huntsville, was second female (16th) in 20:57, and Megan Allan, 38, of Huntsville, was third (20th) in 21:14.

The course is flat and speedy. Runners had moderate temperatures to start the event, with 290 finishing. The event was sponsored by Fleet Feet, Panera Bread, The Covery, Stretch Zone and Dunkin Donuts.
