RunningLane Track Championships Results: Kipyego, Southerland Claim 1-Mile Titles

Nicki Southerland of Indiana and Devan Kipyego of Rhode Island closed out the RunningLane Track Championships with 1-mile titles Saturday night at Milton Frank Stadium.

The final events of the two-day champship featured the top finalists from multiple prelims running under the lights of the 61-year-old stadium. Runners found a newly resurfaced track this year, the third of the championships. Events included the 400m, 800m and 3200m. This year the 2000m Steeplechase and Distance Medley Relay were added. The DMR involves a 4-person relay team but each one runs a different distance.

Kipyego won the 1-mile in 4:03:65 over Adam Burlison of Texas, who was just behind in 4:03:85.

Southerland won her 1-mile title in 4:45:02.

Keyshawn Garcia of Texas won the 800m title in an RTC record time of 1:49:61. The top six in the event scored RTC records.
