Schneekloth, Wagner Nab Scenic Charleston 100 Finish

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — Martin Schneekloth and Kyle Wagner completed the scenic 8th annual Charleston 100 on Dec. 27, both adding a new event to a wildly successful year.

The Huntsville runners completed a stellar list of events in several states including 200-mile, 100-mile, 100K and 50K distances.

Schneekloth, 53, finished 11th in the Charleston 100 in 23 hours, 39 minutes, 42 seconds. He added South Carolina to a growing list of states in which he’s completed a 100-mile event. The Charleston 100 ticked that number to 21 states, with five others added in 2024. He also completed two 200-mile events, the Cocodona 250 and inaugural Southern States 200.

Wagner, 38, was 14th in 25 hours, 14 minutes, 17 seconds. Wagner’s stellar year has included another Devil’s Racetrack Backyard battle in spring, the Dark Divide 100, Pinhoti 100, Cascades 100, Georgia Jewel and others.

Thirty-nine runners finished the Charleston 100. The event is an out-and-back route taking runners through the scenic Lowcountry, through Charleston and back to the Peyton Johnson Moore Track and Field in Mount Pleasant. Runners are self-supported; numerous gas stations and other businesses along the route are available.

Charleston 100 runners go to the Isle of Palms and make their way around Sullivan’s Island. They then head through Mount Pleasant’s Old Village, over the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge into Charleston and around the peninsula. From there, they run over the Ashley River Bridge to the end of the West Ashley Greenway, and then return the same way to the finish at the park.

Registration is a $1 donation to the Peyton Johnson Moore Fund. Runners who finish and want a buckle pay for the actual cost of the buckle. Runners are asked to donate it back to the race if they do not start or finish.
