Matthew Fletcher cruised to a quick win Saturday morning in the Soggy Seals Sprint Triathlon in south Huntsville.
Fletcher, 23, of Huntsville, finished in 48:56 to win by more than four minutes. Jordan Rundel, 39, of Madison, was second in 53:05, and Jonathan Schaefer, 24, of Huntsville, was third in 54:59.
Rana Burt, 59, of New Market, was the first female (17th overall) at 1:07. Helen Purser, 33, of Helena, was second (25th) in 1:11, and Anne Smalligan, 60, of Huntsville, was third (28th) in 1:12.
Participants ran 3 miles, biked 8 miles and swam 300 yards in the Southeast YMCA indoor pool. The event was based at the Southeast YMCA. Sixty competitors finished. The running and biking routes were through the neighborhoods and the Aldridge Creek Greenway. Conditions included comfortable temperatures, overcast skies and sprinking rain.
