Nine events highlight the Team Rocket Tri-Club 2023 schedule, which begins Feb. 11 with the final running of the Tick Ridge Trek in Tennessee.
The trek has been held for nine years and will end after this last outing. The three events — 5K, 10K and 25K — are sold out. It is one of the most popular races in the area, winding through scenic pastures and forests, and one of the big annual kickoffs to the trail season along with the Mountain Mist 50K. Race officials have not announced what might replace it on the club schedule.
This year’s Rocket City Tri-Club schedule:
Feb. 11: Tick Ridge Trek
April 22: Heel & Crank duathlon
June 17: Pesky Piranha Youth Tri
TBD: Tri for Ol’ Glory
July 15: Racing Rivals
Aug 5: Huntsville Sprint Tri
Aug. 20: Rocketman
Sept. 17: Swim Hobbs Island
Sept. 30: Racin’ the Station duathlon
Events are held locally and well-staffed with club members and volunteers, aid stations and certified timing. Some have interesting challenges, such as the Racin’ the Station. It is held on Redstone Arsenal and athletes attempt to finish two short runs and a 14-mile bike ride within 91 minutes. That is one orbit of the International Space Station.
