Allan Anderson and Angel Mobley took top honors in the 30th Crisis Services of North Alabama Turkey Trot 5K amid a field of more than 1,800 runners.
The annual Thanksgiving morning run is held at the University of Alabama-Huntsville campus. It starts near Spragins Hall, winds past Morton Hall and in front of several campus buildings before the turnaround. The route is fun and popular, with the little hill by Morton Hall giving the return to the finish a little kick in the shins. Huntsville Track Club, Fleet Feet and Running Lane Events facilitated the race.
Anderson won the overall in 16:03, clipping William Pinson (16:31) and Jackson Nguyen (16:53) in the final stretch.
Mobley crossed in 18:58 to take the women’s title. She was 13th overall. Olivia Ballew was second (18th) in 19:29, and Nina Sillivant was third (25th) in 20:11.
Weather conditions were crisp for the 7 a.m. start, with sunshine, no wind and temps in the upper 30s but warming quickly.
Crisis Services of North Alabama
Crisis Services of North Alabama was created in 1999 after the merger of Hope Place and HELPline, two organizations committed to serving people in crisis. There are no fees or charges for these services.
Crisis Services of North Alabama provides essential support for victims of domestic violence and intimate partner violence, including shelter at HOPE Place. Additionally, the organization extends specialized assistance to survivors of sexual assault via dedicated programs. Operating round-the-clock, HELPline serves as a crucial lifeline, connecting victims of domestic and sexual violence with an array of services.
A team of Forensic Nurse Examiners is available at all times to expertly collect evidence. With dedicated emotional advocates, court advocates, and counseling services, CSNA can offer comprehensive care and assistance.
Proceeds from the annual Turkey Trot help CSNA provide these services to the community.
