Three speedy teens battled to the line in a thrilling finish of the 29th CSNA Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving morning at the UAH campus in Huntsville.
Cooper Atkins of Scottsboro nipped Jackson Danner of Huntsville by a fraction of a second to get the win. Atkins crossed in 16:46:20 to edge Danner’s 16:46:41. Benson Atkins of Scottsboro was third in 16:49:11. All three are 19 years old.
Sarah Crouch of Madison was the first female and 15th overall in 17:54. Angel Mobley was second (20th) in 18:17, and Savannah Williams of Moulton was third (21st) in 18:19.

More than 1,150 runners, doggos, babies in strollers, kiddos and others completed the annual turkey day classic. Temperatures were perfect for a comfortable run. The event is put on by Crisis Services of North Alabama and facilitated by Huntsville Track Club and Fleet Feet. Sponsors include Fleet Feet, Keel Point, NXTStep, Murphy Homes, Redstone Federal Credit Union, Polaris, Adtran, Johnson & Hayes Physical Therapy. UAH Security provided assistance on the roads around campus.
The Turkey Trot supports the programs and services of Crisis Services of North Alabama. CSNA provides emergency shelter to victims of domestic violence through HOPE Place, a community crisis line through HELPline, and forensic medical exams and rape crisis counseling through the Sexual Assault Response program. CSNA is the local call center for the 2-1-1 information and referral initiative. CSNA charges no fee for its services.

Turkey Trot of Morgan County
Stuart Lamp of Decatur zipped to a win in the Turkey Trot of Morgan County with a time of 17:36.
Lucas Black of Arlington, Tenn., was second in 18:49, and Jack Lamp of Decatur was third in 6:38.
Katie Mae Coan of Moulton was the first female and third overall in 18:50. Erin Dubose of Union Grove was second (16th) in 23:21, and Melissa Puppa-Lasher of Memphis was third (17th) in 23:55.
The event was held in Decatur and had 186 runners. It was put on by the River City Runners, which has a full slate of events sceduled for 2023.

Regal Knoxville Turkey Trot 5K
Scott Greeves of Knoxville won the Regal Knoxville Turkey Trot 5K in 15:48 in a tight finish.
Clan Bell of Knoxville was second in 15:52, and Will Jeter of Oak Ridge was third in 15:56.
Katie Baksa of Knoxville was the female champ and 19th overall, crossing in 17:46. Samantha Gonzales of Knoxville was second (22nd) in 17:54, and Elizabeth Herndon of Knoxville was third (26th) in 18:19.

10th Annual Stuffing Strut
Dylan Zeller of Hixon won the 10th Annual Stuffing Strut in Hixon, Tenn., in a time of 18:28, edging Nicholas Selbo of Soddy Daisy by 26 seconds. Riley Tripp of West Point, Iowa, was third in 19:21.
Audrey Cookston of Hixon was the womens’ champ and 16th overall in 23:16. Jennifer Kueck of Nags Head, N.C., was second in 24:19.

Cleveland Thanksgiving Day 5K
Celine Ritter of Cleveland, Tenn., won the Cleveland Thanksgiving Day 5K, cruising along at 5:38 per mile to cross the line in 17:31.
Josiah Marr of Cleveland was second in 18:43, and Elliott Brooks of Nashville was third in 20:23.

Chattanooga Sportsbarn Turkey Trot 8K
Jacob Bishop cruised to the win at the Sportsbarn Turkey Trot 8k in Chattanooga in a time of 25:03. Christian Thompson was second in 25:44, and Grayson Kennedy right behind at 25:45.
Jessica Marlier was the women’s champ and 28th overall in 31:28. Jenna Picou was second (45th) in 35:06, and Jennifer Huwe was third (50th) in 35:32.

Fort Payne Turkey Trot 5K
Tyler Anthony won the Fort Payne Turkey Trot 5K in 22:07, with William Vidrine in second at 23:15 and Tyler Arnold third at 24:39.
Madie Cate Chandler was the women’s champ, finishing sixth overall at 25:51. Kylila Tucker was second (8th) in 27:28, and Brevard Wilbanks third (11th) in 28:27.

Trax4Max Turkey Trot 5K
Hunter Nails of Huntsville easily won the Trax4Max Turkey Trot 5K in a time of 15:51 Thursday morning in Florence.
Bennett Brake was second in 16:19, and Anthony Frederico was third in 16:53.
Lillian Humphries won the women’s title in a time of 21:07. She was 23rd overall. Gabrielle Jeffrey was second (24th) in 21:09, and Leah Wilson was third (32nd) in 21:39.
The event had 382 finishers out of 430 registered, with an average time of 33:48.
