Turkey Trot Roundup: Fast Winners and Fun Everywhere

Thanksgiving is a great time for being grateful for our blessings, along with enjoying fun events.

Check out the results from some events in our TVO footprint.

Turkey Trot of Morgan County

DECATUR — Wyatt Jones of Decatur sped to a big win in the 9th annual Turkey Trot of Morgan County on Thursday, finishing in 17:17.

Katie Mae Coan of Moulton was second in 19 minutes, taking overall runner-up and first female honors. Bryce McConnell of Moulton was third in 19:17.

The event is sponsored by 3M Decatur and includes a 5K, 5K + Crossfit Challenge and 1-mile fun run. It’s hosted by the River City Runners. This event, which had 266 finishers in the 5K, benefits the United Way of Morgan County.

Trax4Max Turkey Trot 5K

FLORENCE — Hunter Nails won the Trax4Max Turkey Trot 5K with a zippy time of 15:08, winning by less than 20 seconds.

Sophia Gentle finished first in the women’s division and was 12th overall with her time of 19:53.

The annual Trax4Max Turkey Trot 5K is held in memory of Max Barnett and benefits the YMCA of the Shoals. The race had 491 participants and 432 finishers who averaged 10:32 pace per mile. The average overall time was 33:48.

Cleveland 5K

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Harrison Fultz won the Cleveland Turkey Trot 5K in 17:07, clipping runner-up Chad Dean (17:20) at the end.

Knar Abrahamyan of New York City won the women’s title in 20:07. She was 9th overall.

The field had 426 finishers from numerous states including California, New York, Missouri, Massachusetts, Texas and Ohio. The race was put on by Terra Running.

Regal Knoxville Turkey Trot 5K

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Colten Lee of Knoxville won the Regal Knoxville Turkey Trot 5K on Thursday in 15:41.

Athena Owenby of Greenback, Tenn., won the women’s title in 18:41. She was 36th overall.

The event in downtown Knoxville had 2,274 finishers. It was put on by the Knoxville Track Club. The 5K and kids run benefits Valley East Tennessee.
