Lobsterfest 5K
Julian Mani put the hammer to the Lobsterfest 5K on Saturday, winning by about 15 seconds in a tight finish on the Aldridge Creek Greenway in Huntsville.
Mani crossed the line in 20:13, with Justin Blankenhorn right behind at 20:38. Theophilis Goins was nipping at their heels, too, finishing third in 20:56.
Whitney Hollingsworth took the women’s title in 24:16. She was 11th overall. Shannon Green was second (14th) in 24:12, and Allyson Payne was third (19th) in 27:03.
Proceeds from the event benefit First Stop, Inc., in Huntsville, and the Sloan Medical Clinic in Honduras.

Tootsie Roll 5K
Hunter Nails and Katie Maehlmann won the 6th annual K of C Tootsie Roll 5K Saturday morning in Madison.
Nails won by about four minutes, crossing the line in 15:52. Maehlmann was sixth overall, finishing in 20:53 to take the women’s title.
The annual fundraiser is a great course for a PR, with the top 26 runners finishing in 25 minutes or less. The field had 283 finishers.

Wonder Woman 5K
A handful of North Alabama runners enjoyed the Wonder Woman 5K and 10K events in Nashville on Saturday.
Vivian Zou of Huntsville was the top local finisher in the 10K, finishing seventh overall in 46:27. Marlon Thompson of Huntsville was 47th in 56:48.

Vince Rivera of Huntsville was the top local finisher in the 5K, crossing in 22:49 for 10th. Perla Nunez was just steps behind, finishing 13th in 22:53.
