U.S. Paralympics Cycling Returns for 2025 Time Trial, World Cup Qualifying

The nation’s top Para-cyclists will return to Huntsville for the 2025 U.S. Paralympics Cycling Time Trial, scheduled for March 29 at Cummings Research Park.

The one-day event will determine Team USA’s roster for the first two UCI Para-Cycling World Cup competitions of the 2025 season. The event is fresh off the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games that saw U.S. cyclists bring home eight medals. The Huntsville races will kick off a new Paralympic quad, as Team USA turns its focus to Los Angeles in 2028. Many of the country’s best Para-cyclists, including Paris medalists, are expected to compete for world cup roster spots in Huntsville.

“We are so excited to return to Huntsville and to partner once again with the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber,” Ian Lawless, Director, U.S. Paralympics Cycling, said. “The city has become a hotbed for Para-cycling and has time and again welcomed our athletes and staff with top-notch events and unmatched hospitality. This event will be the cornerstone as we look towards L.A. 2028, and we wouldn’t want to start that journey anywhere else.”

As longtime partner of U.S. Paralympics Cycling, the city of Huntsville successfully hosted the 2021 and 2022 U.S. Paralympics Cycling Open. In 2023 it held the first domestic UCI Para-cycling World Cup. The city also was awarded the 2026 UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships. This will be the first Para-cycling world championships held in the U.S. since 2014. The 2025 U.S. Paralympics Time Trial races will be contested on the same time trial course as the 2026 world championships.

“We’re so excited to welcome the Para-cyclists back to Cummings Research Park to compete for the World Cup spots and represent Team USA,” said Erin Koshut, the Park’s executive director. “We absolutely loved seeing them race and medal in the Paris games, and can’t wait to welcome these men and women back to the Rocket City.”

The 2025 U.S. Paralympics Time Trial event is free, family-friendly and open to the public. Race organizers are also seeking volunteers to assist with event tasks such as athlete check-in, course set-up and maintenance, and more. Volunteers are needed – signup information is available here for various tasks.
