GULF SHORES — Preston Webb and Tyler Phelps cruised to wins in the We Run This Beach half-marathon and marathon Sunday morning at Gulf State Park.
The events were the finale of the second Running Lane “We Run This Beach” weekend. Runners made their way through parts of Gulf Shores and around Lake Shelby in Gulf State Park. A 5K and 10K were held Saturday.
Phelps cruised to the marathon win in 2:54, crossing the line 15 minutes ahead of runner-up Aaron Height. He finished in 3:08. William Ortmayer was third in 3:11.
Brandy Royer claimed the women’s title in 3:44 and was ninth overall. Christine Wagner was second (10th) in 3:46, and Vickie Smith was third in 3:48.
The marathon had 115 finishers. Runners found temperatures in the upper 60s at starting time.

Half-Marathon Results
Preston Webb took home the half-marathon title in a speedy time of 1:17, a 5:55 pace perfect for the conditions.
Jacob Harned was second in 1:21, and Angel Mobley of Huntsville was third in 1:27.
The half-marathon had 360 finishers.
