Jvah Fletcher and Miracle Sanchez won top honors in the Random Medal 5K put on by Rocket City Runners last Saturday at John Hunt Park.
Fletcher, 27, of Birmingham, won the race with a time of 17:36. He scampered ahead of Samuel Hall, 21, of Huntsville, who crossed in 17:47.
Sanchez, 29, of Jemison, won the women’s title and was ninth overall. She finished in 21:56.

Yeti Snakebite 50/50
LITHIA SPRINGS, Ga. — Lisa Gates and Lindsey Shady, both of Huntsville, were among top finishers with record performances in the Yeti Trail Runners’ 13th annual Snakebite 50/50 on Aug. 29.
Gates, 43, was fourth overall and second in the women’s division, with 41.6 miles in 8:45:51. She’s tied for first on the Top 10 list with winner Stephanie Cere of Cumming, Ga.
Shady, 45, completed 39 miles, in 8:42:43, to finish in seventh place and third in the women’s division. She’s second on the Top 10 list, tied with four others, with 39 miles.
Runners have 8.88 hours to complete as many 6-mile loops as they can on the path at Sweetwater Lake State Park. The event has no cutoffs or DNFs. It’s just August heat, hills and humidity with the mental grind against the clock.

The Cam Run
CHATTANOOGA — Aaron Isbell won the Cam Run on Aug. 29 by four seconds, with the top six finishers separated by just 10 seconds.
Isbell, 23, of Chattanooga, won in 15:57:59, with Lucas Cotter, 35, of Chattanooga, next at 16:01:35.
Leslie Boyd, 25, of Harrison, Tenn., won the women’s title and was 15th overall. She finished in 17:10 and was the only woman in the top 20.
The race, started in 2016, honors the memory of Cameron Bean. Runners start in Coolidge Park, cross the Market Street Bridge, pass the Southern Belle Riverboat, go along the river, and return across Veteran’s Bridge for a fast finish. The Cam Run 5K is a RRCA Southeast Championship event.
