Woodstock 5K Selected as National Championship

The Woodstock 5K in Anniston, one of the Alabama’s oldest road races, has been selected as the 2025 national championship by the Road Runners Club of America.

The Woodstock 5K is no stranger to the national championship, having played host six previous times. It has been selected for 17 RRCA championship races, including five regional championships and six state championships. The race is organized by the Anniston Runners Club, a local non-profit organization.

It is part of the RRCA Championship Event Series, one of the oldest distance running traditions in the U.S. The series dates to 1958 when the RRCA awarded its first championship designation. The goal of the series is to shine a spotlight on well-run, community-based events. The series also promotes running by recognizing top performing runners in the Open, 40-, 50-, and 60-year-old categories for men and women as RRCA Champions.

In 2024, the series sanctioned 215 races at the state, regional and national level. More than 225,000 runners nationwide took part in an RRCA Championship race in 2024. For 2025, the seven series races anticipate registration from more than 12,000 runners.
