Frank Kipruto of Huntsville won the 45th annual Publix Woodstock 5K by more than 20 seconds Saturday morning in downtown Anniston.
Kipruto, 23, finished in 14:51 and held off Shadrack Kipkurgat, 22, of Jacksonville. He finished in 15:14. Dakota Frank, 20, of Munford, was third in 15:22.
Faith Nyathi, 26, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., won the women’s division and was 12th overall. She finished in 17:08. Rhi Price-Weimer, 31, of Starkville, Miss., was second (20th) in 17:22.
The race had 723 official finishers from nine states including California and New Mexico. Founded in 1981, it is hosted by the Anniston Runners Club and is one of the oldest continuous foot races in the Southeast.

Wild Thangs Skunk Ape
Christopher Kitson won the Wild Thangs Skunk Ape 10-mile trail run by almost five minutes Saturday morning at Monte Sano State Park.
Kitson, 30, of Huntsville, finished the course in 1:14:27. The event is the third of four in the series, with the finale set on Aug. 22.
Angela Tieri, 41, of Owens Cross Roads, won the women’s division and was fifth overall. She finished in 1:36:28.
Daniel Brunick, 46, of Meridianville, won the 5-mile race in 46:38. Ella Carter, 18, of Madison, won the women’s title and was fifth. She finished in 49:57.

Founder’s Day 5K
KILLEN — Conrad Albright, 16, of Florence finished in 18:05 to comfortably win the Killen Founder’s Day 5K on Saturday.
Ashlyn Emerson, 18, of Alabaster, won the women’s division and was 11th overall. She finished in 21:58.
