Tailwind Active Hydration is a new mix that contains electrolytes, collagen and vitamin C and is designed for lighter workouts or daily use.
Active Hydration mixes clear with water and has a light, fruity taste. It joins two staples in the Tailwind lineup, Endurance Fuel and Recovery Mix, which have been around for 10 years.
“Customers asked us for a way to hydrate for shorter or less intense workouts when they don’t need the full energy boost of Endurance Fuel.” said Jeff Vierling, co-founder of Tailwind. “We are thrilled to introduce Active Hydration after two years of development and testing on the trails here in Durango, Colorado. Initial feedback from testers has been amazing, and we can’t wait to share it.”
Lightly sweetened with cane sugar, Active Hydration has a clean, refreshing taste, without the overly strong flavors and funky aftertaste typically found in electrolyte drinks. Active Hydration is available in Cherry Acai, Tangerine Grapefruit, Tropical Orange, and Strawberry Lemonade. It is packaged as individual serving packets in 12-pack boxes. One 9-gram packet has 35 calories when mixed with 12-ounces of water.
Active Hydration helps athletes hydrate faster than if they were drinking water alone and provides electrolytes to replace what is lost in sweat. Similar to Tailwind’s Endurance Fuel, Active Hydration takes advantage of the body’s active transport mechanism to maximize absorption of electrolytes and water. Plus, Active Hydration includes grass-fed bovine collagen peptides. Studies of collagen supplementation combined with exercise show promising results improving joint functionality. Vitamin C is a necessary cofactor in collagen synthesis and functions as an antioxidant.
Active Hydration is gluten free, non-GMO, does not have a salty or diet sweetener aftertaste, and does not contain any artificial colors or dyes.
Active Hydration has a MSRP $21 and is will be available on TailwindNutrition.com and at various retailers.
