Road and trail events are heating up as spring marches toward summer, with some popular events seeing records set including the Bridge Street Half-Marathon. Here’s a TVO Roundup of recent results in the Tennessee Valley:
Bridge Street Half
Brandon York scorched the field to set a course record in the Bridge Street Half-Marathon with a time of 1:06.
York, 37, of Madison, easily cruised to the win on April 2 by almost eight minutes. He posted a comfortable 5:06 pace on the flat route through Cummings Research Park that ended at Bridge Street Town Centre. He eclipsed the 2022 winning time by three minutes.
Samuel Ongaki, 39, of Birmingham was second in 1:14, and Daniel Sillivant, 36, of Huntsville was third in 1:15.
Emma Hardman, 26, of Huntsville, was the women’s champ in 1:20. She was seventh overall. Angel Mobley, 27, of Huntsville, was second (12th) in 1:23:11, and Megan Allan, 39, of Huntsville, was third in 1:23:46.

First Priority 5K in Decatur
Eighteen-year-old Thomas Ross won the First Priority 5K on April 15 with a time of 19:27.
Ross crossed just ahead of Taylor Britton, 29, who finished in 19:55. Ezekiel Anderson, 18, was third in 20:54.
Jamie Pitt, 42, was the women’s champ in 42:11. She was ninth overall. Emily LaRue, 32, was second (14th) in 25:19, and Kathy Sandlin, 48, was third (15th) in 25:35.

Chickamauga Chase 15K
Rodney Stoker, 47, of Chattanooga, claimed the win April 15 in the Chickamauga Chase 15K in a time of 50:05.
Rachel Mason, 37, of Signal Mountain, won the women’s title in 59:10. She was ninth overall. The race was one of several held in Chickamauga National Military Park and put on by the Chattanooga Track Club.
Madelyn Patton, 60, and Chip Patton, 60, both of Huntsville, finished in 1:30:46 and 1:30:47, respectively.
Chanda Roden, 43, of Pisgah, finished in 1:41:19. See all the results of the Chickamauga Chase 15K here.
Dwight Campbell, 52, of Owens Cross Roads competed in the 8-Mile, finishing in 1:32. See all the results of the 8M here.
Slawburger10K, 5K
Jeremy Kaiding, 46, won the Slawburger 10K on April 15 in Fayetteville, Tenn., with a time of 39:46.
Justus Fowler, 41, was second in 43:47, and Bryant Moss, 60, was third in 50:32.
Morgan Higgins, 25, won the women’s 10K title in 54:28. She was eighth overall.

Trevor Murphy, 14, won the Slaw Burger 5K in 19:21.

The 5K race had 157 finishers and the 10K had just 28. The races are part of the annual Slawburger Festival in Fayetteville, to celebrate spring and the city’s unique slawburger.
Chief Ladiga 100-Mile
Robert Cassidy, 27, of Panama City Beach, Fla., won the Chief Ladiga 100-Mile endurance event Saturday in a record time of 16:04:17.
This is the second year for the event, which is an out-and-back starting in Jacksonville, Ala. It follows the Chief Ladiga Trail east toward Georgia before returning to the finish.
Zach Jordan, 29, of Ball Ground, Ga., was second in 18:03:56. Chris Stayman, 41, of Knoxville, Tenn., was third in 19:05:00.
Brittany Hayden, 36, of Birmingham, was the women’s champ in 19:10:52. She finished fourth overall, just ahead of Bethany Madison, 37, of Baton Rouge, Ga., who crossed in 19:10:55.
Emetereo Hernandez, 56, of Harvest, finished 16th in 23:03:27. He was the only North Alabama runner in the 100-mile event.
The 100-miler had runners from 12 states including Wisconsin and Maine. See all the 100-mile results here.
Megan Light, 32, of Arab, took third in the women’s 50K event and was seventh overall. She finished in 5:21. That’s the sixth-best time in the women’s records for the race. It also would be seventh-best in the men’s record list.
