We’re still catching our breath after a weird wild wacky weekend, which the TVO Roundup will show is jammed with everything from 100-milers to local 5Ks.
Holy cow, what a kickoff to spring! First, we had several 100-mile events over in Georgia and North Carolina. Very cool, and props to those buckle-chasers. We saw some awesome finishes recently at the Heron Hundreds. Others were chasing 50K success in Tennessee and Birmingham, and marathon props in Arkansas. We had the very cool Oak Barrel Half-Marathon in Lynchburg, with a horde of runners overtaking the popular town for a day.
On top of that, a bevy of fun 5Ks and other races around here including the Bridge Street Underground Half. If you haven’t seen that one yet, check it out here. TL; DR — major storm, race moved to the parking garage, lots of smiles and fun. Major kudos to the Running Lane team for getting it done, and props to the almost 500 finishers.
With all that going on, Mother Nature decided to blow up the air conditioner last weekend before the storms and cool temps arrived. Saturday was Hacche Ohhh Teee hot hot hot for the first weekend of April. The heat and humidity zapped a lot of folks. Some mustered through, others raised the white flag. There’s no shame in that when the churnin’ bubble gut and cramps start working on you.
This weekend is even more slammed, according to our brimming TVO Calendar. Be sure to check it out here and find your fun event to get into soon.
