Christopher Kitson and Emily Crispi took top honors Saturday morning in the Wild Thangs Chupacabra half marathon trail run at Monte Sano State Park.
Kitson nabbed top honors with his time of 2:08:08, clipping Luis Moreno at the wire. Moreno finished in 2:08:18.
Crispi, a summer Wild Thangs veteran, was fourth in 2:24:20.
The Chupacabra half features some of the park’s best and well-known trails. The final half goes from Rest Shelter down into McKay Hollow to the Land Trust’s Trough Spring parking lot. Runners enjoy all the hot rocky fun of Natural Well and Arrowhead trails. From the parking lot aid station, runners return into the hollow and finally up Death Trail to the finish. The half had 124 official finishers.
Jacob Wierenga won the 10K by a minute, finishing in 43:16. Amanda Arrants won the women’s division and was 12th overall. She finished in 55:39.
This was the final event of the RunningLane summer WildThangs series. It consists of four events, with long and short options, on the trails at Monte Sano State Park.
